Webinar on youth tobacco use and advertising - organized by the WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Surveillance - 26 October 2022

The WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Tobacco Surveillance organized a webinar on youth tobacco use and advertising on 26 October 2022. The WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Article 12 contributed to the proceedings by bringing its expertise on measures and actions to fight against tobacco industry advertising.

Goal: the goal of the webinar was to present the evidence-base for the importance of accelerated implementation of Article 13 of the WHO FCTC with respect to the prevention of tobacco use among the youth, in the absence or in the presence of other tobacco control measures. This webinar also provided an opportunity to exchange information and experiences such as national regulations or social network strategies to counter those of the tobacco industry.


Target: target groups of the webinar included regulators and experts in health promotion and tobacco use prevention. Participation of tobacco industry and related entities was not allowed in line with the Article 5.3 of the WHO FCTC.
